Quotium Workbench™

Workbench works with both Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase ASE.

Quotium Workbench is a unique product that allows you to take control of your database performance. It will ensure that applications perform as expected with no nasty surprises when you deploy them. If you do encounter performance problems it will identify the offending code in minutes rather than hours.

Pinpointing Performance Problems
Quotium Workbench will greatly assist individuals (DBAs, Developers or Production Support) attempting to identify application performance problems by giving them near instant details of the problem. Allowing them to drill down, in a few clicks, to the offending line of code even if it's buried deep inside nested procedures or triggers. Hours or days of painstaking investigation becomes seconds or minutes of simple rectification of the problem.

Certification of Application Performance
Workbench will allow you to "certify" that an application coming through from development meets your performance criteria, which you define within Workbench. While performing functional tests, Developers should run these through Workbench and verify the performance of the code. Where any anomalies are flagged, Workbench will lead the developer to the exact line of SQL code that is causing the problem. Whether this code is dynamic, embedded, in a Stored Procedure, in a nested Stored Procedure or even a Trigger.

Identifying database performance problems while the SQL code is being developed is extremely cost effective by removing the need to debug the SQL later in the development cycle or, even worse, once it has been deployed.

It's not unusual for such performance problems to take many hours (and occasionally days) to identify the offending SQL, correct it and then re-test the application.

You can even certify packaged applications for which you do not have the code. This can prove extremely effective in proving performance issues exits to your suppliers.

Benchmark Applications or Infrastructure Changes
Workbench will allow you to benchmark the "before and after" performance of application updates or infrastructure changes/upgrades to ensure you do not introduce performance problems or to confirm that expected performance gains have been achieved.

If you can be sure that your database applications are optimised, then when you come to load test your infrastructure you can be sure that the hardware you buy to run your production systems is the optimal and you are not over resourced simply to handle poorly performing applications.

Quotium Production™

Analyse transactions and monitor, in real-time, database server activity in order to detect any possible performance problems.

Production analyses database server performance and detects anomalies in real-time. Quotium Production allows you to monitor 24 hours a day, seven days a week the activity of a large number of database servers, and detects in real-time the transactions performing below your expectations. The information relevant to the detected anomalies is recorded in a database for further analysis using a dedicated optimisation tool such as Quotium Workbench.

Starting from its client interface, you can define multi-criteria surveillance settings as performance thresholds. The settings and running information are stored in a central database shared among several clients. Production captures each anomaly's nature as well as the context in which the incident occurred. It identifies 13 types of anomaly and assigns 4 alert levels for each of them.

The user can assign a SQL script or a Shell script to each anomaly level. When such a level is reached, Production automatically triggers the relevant script. The products key benefit is to reduce the time spent investigating the cause of incidents, and thereby shorten the resolution phase for each anomaly.

Load Testing With QuotiumPRO™

Load testing is very important in today's economy. Companies with mission critical web applications can not afford to have poorly performing web sites. As web site growth evolves, and systems upgrade, the complexity of a company's web site architecture increases. Components within the web architecture change making applications increasingly likely to encounter performance issues. Applications have to be able to face a great number of users with unpredictable load variations. Poor performance means reduced profits, lower customer satisfaction and a loss of brand equity.

QuotiumPRO™ is a load testing solution able to measure and predict the behavior and performance of an application on a global scale. QuotiumPRO™ lets you load test both your infrastructure and the architecture of an application by simulating a large number of users with many different profiles. QuotiumPRO™ can be combined with performance and transaction monitors in order to provide specific performance data for the different components of your web application architecture. QuotiumPRO™ identifies and pinpoints in real-time any bottleneck and its cause.

QuotiumPRO™ has a simple to use Graphical User Interface (GUI) that allows companies to shorten their load testing cycle. Using QuotiumPRO™ you can quickly optimize your web application performance, speed up the deployment process and reduce overall cost while enhancing end user satisfaction resulting in company growth.
